Philip Merry

Philip Merry is Founder and CEO of Singapore’s Global Leadership Academy (GLA) which specialises in the leadership and success of global teams. Philip has been using Belbin team technology since 1984 with global organisations and has certified over 100 Team Role facilitators. He helps leaders solve real problems by integrating Team Role technology with culture and brain dominance profiling, as well as recently focussing on the link between Team Roles, positive psychology and happiness. In 2008, he organised the 1st Asian New Science of Happiness conference in Singapore, with keynote speaker Dr. Martin Seligman.

Philip has lived in Asia for 22 years and has been in the consulting, training and counselling field for 36 years. Born in a Derbyshire mining village, he has varied experiences in cross cultural team and leadership development, having delivered workshops in 47 countries. Recent projects include Team Role application to top leadership coaching at Citi; facilitation of a conference of the 29 UN Arab Countries Teams and helping link Gross National Happiness policies to UN projects in Bhutan. He has been a marriage and family therapist in Lambeth, Assistant Director at Roffey Park, OD Manager for Reuters Asia – not to mention a former London taxi driver!
